I received very positive reports on a paper at a good (but not top) field journal, and a strong signal from the editor that a (competently) revised version would likely be accepted.
I worry that I aimed too low with the paper. I still have several years before coming up for tenure, so I plan to submit the revised version to a top field journal.
My question is: can I forward on the referee reports from the previous journal, to speed up / facilitate the new editor's decision?
