- >$200k in salary
- reasonable teaching load of 2/2 or 2/1, easy course buy-out opportunities
- minimum expectations for research after clearing the tenure threshold, which makes the corruption of the publishing process annoying but not career threatening
One could make a case that this is ideal. At LACs, you're teaching way too much and you have to make all kinds of accommodations for students. At HRM places, the stress is exorbitantly higher and the pay is only marginally better. Obviously being part of the club and having a reduced teaching load / larger office is a nice bonus, but does that justify the higher stress?
What other considerations am I missing?
